Uh Oh!!!

And so July came to an end... but not without a little bit of drama! Yes, our precious little girl dislocated her elbow and had to be put in a splint for 2 long weeks!

How you ask? Well, when we were on vacation in CA we were walking through a parking lot while holding our precious angel's hands- as responsible parents should! However, our sweet little girl also likes to have a good time, so she was using our hands to jump and leap over planters and curbs, as most toddlers do! When we got to the car and let go of her hands, she said her arm hurt, Barnard checked it and said it was dislocated! He popped it back into place and Bryawna was happy as could be! No crying and no whining once it was fixed! Well, then a couple of weeks ago, she was in her bedroom taking a nap. When I went in to get her out of bed, she said her arm hurt. I called Barnard and he checked it out and determined that once again it had dislocated. So, he fixed again, we hopped in the car, went to his office, took a couple x-rays, and got a nice big blue (her choice!) splint! Believe it or not, she didn't skip a beat the whole time it was on! Her disposition was great, she was still able to climb into the car, up the ladder of her play house, and swim with a bag over it! Although it was a little inconvenient, she handled it great! What a great little patient!!!

Cattle Baron's Ball!

The Cattle Baron's Ball is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society every year. There are silent auctions, live auctions, gourmet food, full bars, martini sampling, casino table games, and live entertainment!

This year the headlining artist was Richie MacDonald from the country band "Lonestar!"
We went with Tom, Jenn, and Jenn's parents
Mike & Loretta
(DaDa & LoLo as we like to call them!)
We were so excited to get to go and we had a fabulous time!

July- Swimming Lessons!

As I previously mentioned, Bryawna had several swimming lessons during the summer while she was in daycare. Well, the only problem with that was that I wasn't there to see them! So, now that I am off, we met up with Miss Emma & the Hugbugs at the pool and I took some pictures of them in action! Like I also mentioned, Bryawna does great with her floaties on... but getting her to swim with them off is a bit of a challenge! Thank goodness Miss Emma is patient!!!

Barnard's Birthday!

In celebration of Barnard's birthday this year, we did a couple of things. Tom & Jenn and the girls came over for dinner that Monday night and the girls all dressed up like princesses to sing "Happy Birthday" to Barnard and Tom made his famous "Banana's Foster" dessert for Barnard! Instead of candles, this year he had a whole pan on fire!!!

Then on Wednesday (his actual birthday) the 3 of us went to this great little restaurant we found called "El Salvador" and had a great authentic meal!

July 2009

Darby's last day of work (for now) was July 2nd. She came home, we had dinner, and then we loaded up and headed for Southern California! It is an 18 hour drive, but with an active toddler, we have found it is easier when she is asleep for 8-10 hours of the trip, so we leave at night!

Our first stop:

Dawneen & Marks for a little food and swimming! We had a great time with them and Grandma & Grandpa D too! Bryawna can swim the whole pool with floaties on! Not bad for 2 1/2! Then we went back to Grandma & Grandpa D's house and crashed!

Next stop:

'Buelo & 'Lita's for more swimming and fireworks! On the 4th of July Penny made an amazing dinner for us and then we went to a golf course to watch the fireworks! Bryawna was soooo excited! We stayed with them for a few days and spent time on the beach and a day in San Diego (where Bryawna rode the Merry go Round), and then dinner where Tia & Tio met up with us!

Last stop:
Doug & Jenn's for more fireworks, a little wakeboarding, innertubing, and Boo Boo's birthday party! Bass Lake is always great because there are so many things to do! On Friday Grandma & Grandpa D, and Mark & Dawneen arrived. We went to dinner and then out on the boat for Jazz on the Lake & fireworks! Then Saturday we had fun on the lake and then Luke's birthday party after naps!

Cruzin' Cousins! Barnard- "Got Air?" Jake & Bryawna!

We always enjoy our time with our families, but it always seems to go by so quickly! We love & miss you guys so much! We truly appreciate your efforts to see us when we are in CA!

June 2009

June was a nice month for our family. We were home most of the month, but Darby was working 3 days per week to help Dr. Nichols' office for a while! Meanwhile Bryawna was going to Miss Emma's Daycare (with Campbell & Camryn) having a great time swimming, doing gymnastics, learining music, and rollerskating! Although she had fun, she was exhausted everyday!
The beginning of the month was bittersweet as we said goodbye to our friends Ronny and Raelyna Ford and their baby Mason. Ronnie was a resident with Barnard and he completed his final year. We were invited to the Chief Dinner where we had a chance to catch up with several old friends. Although we had fun and we know they are doing great in the Dallas area... we miss them!

Then there was Father's Day! We had a very relaxing day. We went to church and then went to brunch and then relaxed the rest of the day! Just what Barnard wanted!

The end of June we had a cookout/swim party for our "Life Group" (our couples' bible study from church) and all the kids came too! We had a blast! Bryawna enjoyed running around and swimming with all the kids! Her new purple goggles! AND the ice cream cones for dessert!

The next day we had to go grocery shopping! Woo Hoo! But we had some extra time while our car was getting serviced, so I let Bryawna push her own shopping cart! Talk about cute! Oh my gosh! She looked up at my basket and saw that I had my purse & her backpack (diaper bag) and she politely requested that I put her backpack in her basket (even though it took up the whole cart!), so I did! She was soooo proud! She was a very conscientious shopper too! She said, "Thank you," whenever someone commented on how cute she was, and "excuse me," when she veered into oncoming traffic! She stayed right beside me the whole time! I was amazed, and a bit proud!!!! My little girl is getting so big!!!

A fresh start!

Well, hello everyone! I know it has been a while and a whooooole lot has happened in the last 9 months! Rather than overwhelming myself to try to catch up, I am going to fill you in on the last couple of months and then just move on! We hope you are all having a great summer! See you soon! The Barragans!
