Bryawna's 1st Haircut!

The end of August we decided Bryawna needed her first haircut! She was no longer leaving her headbands on her head and when her hair was all down, she had to tilt her head back to look below/through her bangs! That was pretty funny to watch, let me tell ya! Sooo... me being the sentimental girl that I am, wanted the person to do the job to be meaningful! Who else would I choose, but Margie, our neighbor across the street from my parents, who cut my hair for years and still cuts my parents hair! Everything went great! Margie walked across the street to my parents' house with her scissors and bag in hand! Bryawna sat on my lap and held very still (for about a minute) and my dad was poised with the camera! All this and I only wanted her bangs trimmed! But let me tell ya, we got a great "locke" of hair for the baby book!

"A picture is worth a thousand words!" Bryawna and I went to a womens' bible study at church on Tuesdays and afterwards several of the moms would take the kids to the park for lunch and a little play time. Unfortunately for Bryawna, her naptime fell right around that time preventing us from joining the group! Towards the end of the semester, she was staying awake a little later and I decided to try it! While she was tired, she had a blast! She just couldn't eat her lunch fast enough! She wanted to go play with the big kids! When she finished her lunch, she went right over to the only area there was sand and plopped herself right in it! She started playing with the toys and dumping all over herself! My nature is to freak out when she gets dirty, but I just let her do her thing and she had a blast! We went over to the "jungle gym" and since she wasn't walking on her own yet, she just crawled all over the place! Nothing was going to stop her! She enjoyed the slides too... she just couldn't seem to understand that you are supposed to get off and go back around to the steps to climb up to do it again... she wanted to climb back up the way she came down!

Mother's Day was an entire weekend this year! Saturday morning we went to have breakfast with Barnard's mom and Grandparents in Seal Beach. Then we went to have lunch at Barnard's Grandparents' house where the entire family surprised Grandma with a new kitchen! Then from there I left to spend the evening with my mom and sister at a spa. We were treated to a massage, facial, hot tub, and a foot soak while we enjoyed some fresh fruit & hors'd euvres. When we all finished our treatments we went to Carrows to indulge ourselves in some yummy Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler! What a relaxing evening! Then Sunday Barnard, Bryawna, and I went to church and then prepared brunch for my parents! What a wonderful weekend!

Sophia's 2nd Birthday!

In May we went to Sophia Smart's 2nd Birthday party at "Jumpin' Jacks!" One of those super fun trampoline extravaganzas! Bryawna had a blast! She was a little uneasy initially, and then she warmed up to it! She especially loved the slides, which was a good workout for Barnard and I since we had to carry her on this bouncing thing up to the top of each one! We'll definitely do it again!

Grampa John!

For those of you who didn't know, Jenn's dad (my sister-in-law) lived with us for a couple of months while he waited for his retirement package to come through! He was a great house guest! Bryawna loved him and loved the fact that he would play ball with her while mama fixed dinner! While he was staying with us Bryawna began walking and talking! What an amazing couple of months! They became great buddies while he was here!

April Lookin Cute!

Bryawna decided to play peek-a-boo with her bowl of beans and rice... before it was completely empty!!!

We have these handy baskets where we store Bryawna's toys in the family room! Bryawna decided that she fit just perfectly inside them!!!

Family Camp!

On April 27th we went down to San Diego to spend some time at "Family Camp" with our friends from Flipside! Although Bryawna had taken a few steps here and there, this was the day she decided she wanted to walk! Outside- in the dirt - where we didn't have extra clothes- of course! She was up... and then down. All day long! She was a little trooper! Her legs were so bruised and scraped by the end of the day! At dinner time all the kids were running around and eating strawberries! Bryawna ate her first whole strawberry (one bite at a time of course) and it was so juicy and delicious... well, you can see for yourself how much she enjoyed it!!!! Needless to say, she slept very well that night!

Doug and Jenn brought the kiddos down to So. Cal. for a couple of days the end of April so it was "Family Dinner at Gramma & Grampa D's house!" The Cousins are soooo cute together! Luke wants to follow Bryawna, she wants to follow Jake! We are so blessed to have such amazing children in our family!!!

15 mos Vaccines!

On the 23rd Bryawna had her 15 month vaccines! We can't believe how fast she's growing! 23 pounds 12oz and 30" tall! She is almost half my height at a mere 5'2"! The Doctor asked how many words she is saying and I figured we were up to about 9 words. I asked her how many she should have in her vocabulary and she said they should have about 10 by the time she is 18 mos! So, in short, we have a talker!!!

Yes... We went back to Lubbock again! We decided to move back to Lubbock and had to decide on a house! We stayed with Tom & Jenn, as usual! On Friday night we had dinner and then Tom made Barnard's favorite dessert- Bananas Foster! Complete with flames (if you look closely you can see them)!

The girls are just so cute together! Campbell is like a little mommy to Bryawna (14 mos) and Camryn (9 mos)! On this trip Bryawna wanted so badly to run around with Campbell, but she still wasn't walking to well! She did, however, eat her dinner at the little table with Campbell, and that was a first! We had dinner at Jenn's parents house Sat. night and Grampa Mike (aka- DaDa) was lovin on Bryawna!

We went to church on Sunday and saw our friends there, then went to Bible study that night. At Matt & Shondra's house Bryawna finally enjoyed riding the rockinghorse! She loved it!!! Then we got back on the plane Monday morning!

Each month we end up with a bunch of random pictures of Bryawna "just doin her thing!" I put them in a folder called "Lookin Cute!" I think everyone else will enjoy them too!
This month Bryawna has been playing more and more in her play room! (Demonstrating her independence!) She was once afraid of her rocking horse, but now she loves it! She's still warming up to the idea of riding it though!
She also started this new thing where after she finished dinner, she wanted to sit, stand, whatever, next to Barnard in his chair! She loves her Papa!!!

For Darby's 34th birthday this year we went to "The Melting Pot!" This is, by far, Darby's favorite restaurant! We have literally been to several of the different locations and each one is excellent!!! This year it was just immediate family along with John Jett (Grampa John) who was staying with us for a couple of months! Even Bryawna enjoyed the 2 hour dining experience! We tried everything to get her to eat the broccoli... even dipping it in chocolate!!! For dessert we had the Ying/Yang... a perfect blend of dark and white chocolate... Yummy!!!

Tokyo! YUMMY!!!

Easter Sunday 2008!

On Easter Sunday we started the day with an exciting Easter Egg hunt in the courtyard! Darby's parents were up at Bass Lake visiting Doug & Jenn, so we were invited to Dai's parents house! We had a great time, food, friends, and another Easter Egg Hunt! Bryawna participated with the Griffins 4 kids plus 3 of our other friends' kids and they were all running around like maniacs! After the hunt and some tasty lunch, the kids were playing in the spa! We didn't bring Bryawna's suit, but we took her over to it to put her feet in... we could hardly hold onto her! She was practically jumping out of our arms trying to get all the way in! Our little swimmer!!! After that we stopped by to see Auntie Neen and Uncle Mark and wish them a Hoppy Easter too!!!

We had the opportunity to celebrate Easter for 2 days this year! Saturday was with the Barragan family! A great lunch at Tia Becky's followed by an Easter Egg hunt in the backyard (which we had to miss unfortunately due to nap time)! Bryawna had so much fun with her cousins!

Miss Independence!

After her nap on St. Patrick's day, Bryawna was playing in the Library and saw her Bumbo. She decided that she wanted to sit in it herself... So, she did! The funny part was that it was facing the wall! She didn't seem to mind!

St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day! While I discovered Bryawna did not have a single green dress (or outfit for that matter) in her wardrobe, she did have some cute stuff with green in it! AND I just couldn't pass up this festive hair bow!!! So after running a few errands, we had a little photo shoot in the courtyard!

Springtime At The Corbett's!

The middle of March we went up to visit the Corbett fam in Bass Lake! On Friday we got to watch Jake's indoor soccer practice! He was sooo cute out there! Meanwhile, Bryawna and Luke played in the balls and had some fun of their own! The weather was cool, some rain, and then it actually snowed on Saturday! Having the 3 cousins together, Jenn and I took advantage of a photo op.! The snow also made for some great fun and photos! That was Bryawna's first time in the snow! (No pictures evidentally, only video) We always have so much fun together! Thanks guys!!!

New Car Seat!

When we returned home from Lubbock, we decided it was time for us to let our baby girl grow up a little bit! We went to find a "forward facing" carseat! At Babies'R'Us they have an actual car seat in the store so you can choose a carseat for your child and attach it to the car seat and let the child sit in the seat and determine if they are comfortable and stuff! We thought maybe a neutral fabric would be a good idea... but then we decided to go ahead and go ALL GIRL! Bryawna looked soooooo cute! Oh, and the safety standards of this one are the best of course!
